The Cyprus Government is categorizing countries in 4 different colour categories, based on their ECDC evaluation standards. The categorization is frequently updated and countries change colour category depending on conditions. These are the 4 categories and their arrival protocols:

Green colour: this category includes countries with the best ECDC standard and for quite some time includes Australia, South Korea, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Singapore and Thailand. The protocols in place are to provide some solemn declarations and information. No PCR test needed and no self isolation. They will need to enroll and fill in online 24 hours prior to arrival the CyprusFlightPass.

Orange colour: this category includes countries with a good ECDC standard and or quite some time include Portugal, Israel, Denmark, Iceland, China, Macau and Hong Kong. The protocols in place are to provide a negative PCR test from a certified Lab, taken not earlier than 72 hours before their first flight departure and be uploaded when filling in the CyprusFlightPass (children under 12 years are exempted). Cypriot citizens or nationals with a residency/ work/study permit for Cyprus as well as people under the Vienna Convention are allowed to take the test on arrival and pay Euro 30 (Larnaca) and Euro 32 (Pafos). No self isolation required. They will need to enroll and fill in online 24 hours prior to arrival the CyprusFlightPass.

Red colour: this category includes countries with a “high risk” by ECDC standard and or quite some time include Andorra, Armenia, Austria, Bahrain, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Holy See (Vatican City State), Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Jordan, Latvia, Lebanon, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Qatar, Romania, Russian Federation, Rwanda, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States. The protocols in place are to provide a negative PCR test from a certified Lab, taken not earlier than 72 hours before their first flight departure and be uploaded when filling in the CyprusFlightPass (children under 12 years are exempted). They will also be asked to be tested a 2nd time on arrival and pay Euro 30 (Larnaca) and Euro 32 (Pafos) and the result will be sent by SMS. Cypriot citizens or nationals with a residency/ work/study permit for Cyprus as well as people under the Vienna Convention are allowed to take the test on arrival and pay Euro 30 (Larnaca) and Euro 32 (Pafos).

Grey colour: this category includes countries with a “very high risk” by ECDC standard and or quite some time include all countries not included in the previous 3 categories. Entry is allowed to Cypriot citizens and their family members (spouses and children) or persons legally residing in the Republic of Cyprus or EU citizens, citizens of European Economic Area (including Iceland, Lichtenstein, Norway) and Switzerland or persons allowed to enter the Republic of Cyprus in accordance with the Vienna Convention or citizens of third countries, provided they obtain prior special permission from the Republic of Cyprus, as defined under the Infectious Diseases Decree (N.2/2021 8.1.21), as amended. The application for a Special Permission must be submitted on the Cyprus Flight Pass Platform at least 2 weeks in advance at : https://cyprusflightpass.gov.cy/en/special-permission and once obtained they will follow the usual protocol of having a negative PCR test which will be upload at the CyprusFlightPass.

Note: European Union citizens, citizens of European Economic Area (including Iceland, Lichtenstein, Norway), citizens of Switzerland and citizens of third countries, must undergo a molecular test prior to departure, as stipulated above. The other categories of passengers have the choice of either taking the test prior to their departure or taking it upon entry to the Republic of Cyprus, at their own expense.

The cost of the PCR laboratory test for Covid-19, for passengers who meet the requirements to undergo the test for COVID-19 upon their arrival in Cyprus, is 30 euros at Larnaca and 32 euros at Pafos.
